Yuichiro Ogura, MD, PhD
Dr. Ogura is Professor Emeritus of Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Nagoya, Japan. He graduated from Kyoto University and was trained for a retina specialist at Department of Ophthalmology, Kyoto University. He was the Professor and Chairman of Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences for 24 years from 1997 to 2021.
His research has focused retinal microcirculation of leukocytes, drug delivery to the posterior segments of eye, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and anti-VEFG therapy. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Ogura has held leadership positions in many international and Japanese societies. He has served as President of the Japan Retina and Vitreous Society, President of the International Ocular Circulation Society, Board member of the World Retina Congress, Board Member of the Euretina, Director of Nagoya City University Hospital and Visiting Professor at Genentech, USA. He led the development of diagnostic criteria and treatment guidelines for age-related macular degeneration and guidelines for intravitreal injection for macular disease in Japan.
